hurricane agnes was in 1972 and we had one in 76 as well that was almost as bad. Both of them I had water on the 2nd floor of the house i have now. Back then I was on the farm and we had to truck the cows about 7 miles up the road for a few days as most of the farm was under water. I found this on Youtube

Default Hurricane fun and games

No, I was living on Capital Hill then. didn't get this property until 1980.

But during Isabelle, Neighbor and I went to Ft W marina to view the results. what a mess for those who didn't know to tie their boats with extra lines.

One guy wanted to get his boat that was parked on its trailer but he couldn't get his truck close enough due to the flooded parking lot. So he waded out, got in the boat, lowered the outborard, started the motor, and "drove" the boat and trailer into shallow water. Wish I had a clip of that!!

during one in the mid 90's I was working out in NW DC and got a call from a neighbor that my small sailboat had floated off my dock. I went there and found it's mast had hung it up on some overhanging tree branches about 100 feet north of the dock. I put on a life jacket and tied a line to me and the neighbor held the other end. I swam out in the river during the hurricane and retrieved the boat, tied it to thedock and as the water level dropped, slipped it back onto the dock.
